About Hamilton
"Hamilton: An American Musical" is a sing-along musical directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, the founding father of the United States. Miranda said he was inspired to write the musical after reading Ron Chernow's 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton. The show makes heavy use of hip-hop, as well as R&B, pop, soul, and traditional-style show tunes. It casts nonwhite actors as founding fathers and other historical figures. Miranda described Hamilton as "America then, as America is now called."
