Unlike the previous movies "Prey" is set 300 years ago, where the alien Predator is up against an indigenous Comanche tribe many of them skilled hunters and warriors themselves. The film with a simple back-to-basic storyline and beautiful cinematography (film at Stoney Nakoda Nation near Calgary, Alberta, Canada) adds a stylish entry to the franchise. Even the Predator is unlike the previous on-screen versions, a simple basic costume with a couple of advanced weaponry.

Prey is a simple story of Naru (Amber Midthunder) a young Comanche woman who sets out to prove herself as a great hunter & warrior on the Great Plains. Accompanied by her trusty dog Sarii and encouraged by her proven warrior brother (Dakota Beavers), she sets out to capture her prey. Her thrilling quest to prove herself is complicated by wild animals, Gallic trappers and ultimately her prey, an alien predator with an advanced technological arsenal. The film cleverly evens the odds between an advanced alien Hunter and a teenage indigenous human.
Critics agree that "Prey" has proven to be a great film capable of standing on its own, receiving 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Some comments include;
"Prey is going to go down as one of 2022’s most entertaining motion pictures." - Sara Michelle FettersMovieFreak.com
"The best Predator film since Arnie ran to the chopper, Prey strips everything down to the bare essentials to deliver a thrilling story of survival." James Luxford City AM
"Prey brings the Predator franchise back to its roots...[It's] the best entry in the series since the O.G." - Damond Fudge KCCI (Des Moines, IA)
Without a high body count and gore, Prey serves up an entertaining action thriller. The best Predator movie since Arnie took on the alien hunter. Let's hope 20th Century executives will greenlight a sequel.
