Upcoming releases from Disney announced at D23 Expo 2022

The ultimate fan event...#Disney's D23 Expo 2022 happened on September 9, 10 and 11. As expected an array of new releases were announced. Check out trailers and first looks from Marvel Studios, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney+ and Disney.

Disenchanted (2022)

This musical comedy picks up 15 years after Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) get married when their family heads to suburbia in search of happily ever after. Streaming on Disney+ November 24th.


The Little Mermaid (2023)

This classic is getting its live-action treatment with Halle Bailey as Ariel and with Melissa McCarthy as Ursula and Javier Bardem as Triton. The film is to feature fan-favourite songs plus four new songs penned by Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Coming to theatres on May 26, 2023.


Peter Pan and Wendy (2023)

The film will take a look at the iconic characters in a whole new way. The cast includes Alexander Molony (Peter Pan), Ever Anderson (Wendy), Alyssa Wapanâtahk (Tiger Lily) and Captain Hook himself: Jude Law. The new film dives deeper into Wendy’s story as she joins the boy who refuses to grow up on a magical journey to Neverland and reveals the history behind Peter Pan’s rivalry with one of Disney’s most memorable villains. Streaming on Disney+ 2023.


Haunted Mansion (2023)

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis asMadame Leota. Set for release in 2023.



Mufasa: The Lion King (2024)

This is a prequel currently in production. Told in flashbacks—Rafiki, Timon and Pumbaa tell the story of Mufasa to a young lion cub—“Mufasa” reveals the rise of one of the greatest kings of the Pride Lands. Set to be released in 2024.



Snow White (2024)

Another animation classic receiving a Live-action treatment. Starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as Snow White’s Stepmother, The Queen. Set to be released in 2024.



The Santa Clauses (2023)

Two episode premier streaming November 16th on Disney+


National Treasure: Edge Of History (2023)

Pixar Animation Studios


Elemental (2023)

This is an original story of immigrants pursuing dreams in beautiful neighbourhoods where language and cultures come together. Ember is a tough and fiery young woman, and Wade is a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy. Helping bring them to life are Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie. The film is to be released on June 15 2023.



Win or lose (2023)

The series follows the Pickles, a co-ed middle school softball team, in the week leading up to their championship game. Each episode takes place that same week, highlighting the perspective of a different main character—players, their parents, the umpire—each reflected in a unique visual style. Will Forte will voice Coach Dan in the series and the series will streams on Disney+ in 2023.


Elio (2024)

In the story,11-year-old dreamer Elio is artistic, creative and an avid indoors man who finds it hard to fit in. Meanwhile, Mom Olga, who runs a top-secret military project, is working to decode a strange signal from outer space. But it’s Elio who makes contact, gets beamed into space and is subsequently mistaken for an intergalactic Ambassador for Earth. America Ferrera voices Olga and Yonas Kibreab voices Elio. Set to be released in 2024.


Inside Out 2 (2024)

It will be 9 years since the follow-up to 2015’s Oscar®- and Golden Globe®-winning feature film "Inside Out". The sequel will be welcoming back Amy Poehler as the voice of Joy and will set an all-new adventure inside the head of now-teenager Riley—who may or may not be feeling all kinds of new Emotions.

Marvel Studios


LOKI (2023)

Production for season 2 already underway. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino and Ke Huy Quan. Season 2 of “Loki” begins streaming on Disney+ in 2023.


ECHO

Starring Alaqua Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Devery Jacobs, Graham Greene, Cody Lightning and Chaske Spencer. Maya Lopez's ruthless behaviour in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. The new series will stream soon on Disney+.

Daredevil: Born Again

Starring Charlie Cox. This will be a18-episode show. Since production isn’t yet underway there isn't much details.


Ant-Man and the The Wasp:Quantumania (2023)

Stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp) and Jonathan Majors (Kang). The film explores the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Hitting cinemas February 16, 2023, the film connects to “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,”


Captain America: New World Order (2024)

Returning stars Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Captain America), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres) and Carl Lumbly (Isaiah Bradley). Will hit cinemas May 2, 2024.


Thunderbolts (2024)

Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Sebastian Stan (James “Bucky” Barnes/The Winter Soldier) and Wyatt Russell (John Walker/U.S. Agent). The esteemed team also features stars Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster) and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova). “Thunderbolts” opens in cinemas on July 25, 2024.


The Marvels (2023)

Starring Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) and Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel). Opens in cinemas July 27, 2023.


Secret Invasion (2023)

Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion, an Original series, streaming 2023 on Disney+. Starring Samuel l. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Emilia Clarke.


Werewolf By Night (2022)

Streaming October 7 on Disney+

Fantastic 4 (2024)

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi (2022)

This will be six brand-new animated shorts featuring parables built around Jedi from the prequel era. Journey into the lives of two distinctly different Jedi—Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku—each will be put to the test as they make choices that will define their destinies. All six shorts will debut on October 26 on Disney+.
